I get an awful lot from Jess’ classes. She has a hidden power and strength which she imparts in a subtle and very impressive way. Her warmth and sense of caring is second to nonce. She also manages to vary her practice from class to class and has a fantastic ability to sense the mood/feel/energy of the studio from day to day and adjust accordingly.
Jess‘s sessions can be gentle and strong at the same time. They can be grounding and/ or uplifting, depending on how you feel and what you need. Listening to her voice will help you feel calm and centred. Empowered and grateful. She has the ability to make everyone feel welcome and warm. You are guaranteed to feel amazing after just a few moments with Jess. Being through the kind words and thoughts shared through the practice or through some of her mindful adjustments. I feel very privileged to be able to learn and share my practice with such an enlightened being.
Jess has a calm and soothing voice that makes every yoga practice just that bit extra sweet. She has the ability to perfectly balance a strong and nourishing practice for the mind and body. Her adjustments are simply magical. There's no better way to start or finish the day. I feel privileged to be able to share my practice with Jess. That has been highly accommodating pre and post pregnancy. Don't wait any longer to feel the magic too. Love you Jess.
Joining Jess's yoga classes were restorative hours in our sometimes hectic lives. My partner and I are at different levels of yoga proficiency, and Jess managed to teach us individually, as well as the rest of the class, and maintain a flowing practice for all. We appreciated Jess’s calm and kind manner, and her proficiency and professionalism in teaching. Above all else, Jess’s caring, personal approach enabled us to both enjoy and advance in our yoga practice. We also engaged Jess for private yoga lessons in our home for ourselves and our daughter. We highly recommend Jess as a wonderful yoga teacher, and an exceptional and warm person.
Jess is an incredible teacher and I'm grateful for the opportunity to practice with her in weekly classes, as well as in a private setting. What makes her stand out is her attentiveness to every person in the class, her cues which keeps me focused on breath and body, and how relatable she is when sharing reflections and wisdom. I always leave with a strong feeling of lightness and mindfulness which carries through the rest of the day.
At 33 years of age I thought I'd give Yoga a try. I was overweight, I constantly had a sore back from years of sitting at a desk all day, knew I wasn't flexible in the slightest but always had this view that people who did Yoga were flexible, slim, healthy and happy so I thought I'd give it a shot. Within a few weeks of starting I met Jess. I admired how elegantly she could move through the most difficult poses and how easy she made everything look. It was beautiful to watch. What drew me to Jess however was not how flexible she was or how good her practice looked but the things she would say to others in class. Many little but quite profound comments such as "the body is capable of more than we think, don’t let your mind hold you back" as she helped someone move outside of their comfort zone into a pose they never imagined they'd be capable of doing. I asked Jess for one-on-ones as I wanted to make sure I had my technique down pat and I was doing everything correctly in class. I believe this was the start of my Yoga journey. Jess is a rare breed being both an extremely experienced Yoga and Pilates teacher as well as a scientist with years of study at university around the chemistry and physics of the structures of our bodies and the ways in which they work together under her belt. From just my first one-on-one with Jess I was moving better, had a much better understanding of the why around certain poses, I was able to go into class more confidently etc.. However it was the learnings outside of the physical aspects of what Yoga is all about that had the biggest impact on me. Jess took the time to explain parts of the history of Yoga to me and where the different practice styles stemmed from, I learned some powerful breathing techniques and Jess helped start me on my own journey around meditation. At the end of every session with Jess I not only felt lighter, happier and more free but also equipped with lessons and insights I could take with me into my everyday life. I didn't get what I wanted from Jess, I got what I needed. I started seeing Jess because I wanted to have a more flexible body however it was my mind that Jess stretched. I started seeing Jess to ensure I was doing things correctly however I quickly learned that, as with life, there is no right or wrong. It just is. One thing I must mention is Jess' commitment to her students. After injuring myself outside of Yoga and needing to cancel one of our sessions one day, Jess called me straight away to find out what happened, suggested what I could do, who I could see and whilst we couldn't catch up physically for a short period of time, Jess sent me restorative poses that I could do to help support my healing journey. Jess is a complete package. Labelling Jess a Yoga teacher doesn't do what she brings to the table any justice. Jess is a Yoga teacher and a brilliant one at that but to me she is something between that, a life coach, a guru and a beautiful person I am grateful to have met.
